Health & Safety Charity Donation Scheme

The Board of Directors, have agreed to promote a charity donation scheme to encourage a safety conscious attitude throughout and as a reward for achieving a safe workplace. For each recordable or incident free month,the company will set aside £75 for donation to a charity proposed by employees. This will be backdated for the first year to December 2011. A charity will be chosen later on in the year and the award will be announced at the christmas function.

UK construction sector activity sees sharp drop

Activity in the UK construction sector fell at the fastest pace for two and a half years last month, according to a closely-watched survey.The Markit/CIPS purchasing managers’ index (PMI) of activity in the sector fell to 48.2 in June, from 54.4 in July. A figure below 50 suggests contraction.It also found employment in the sector fell for the first time in four months. Construction sector weakness was cited as a key reason why the UK fell back into recession at the start of 2012.Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that output in the construction industry fell by 4.8% in the first three months of the year, with the economy as a whole contracting by 0.3% in the quarter.
